Took most of the day to wipe the new drive and install the os, and then transfer shit from my iBook. Typing this on the MacBook. iBook is going up for sale as soon as I get the keys fixed.

Got my MacBook back today. Guess what? It has a bigger drive than it did before. The new one is a Toshiba, must be an 80 gig. When I turned the MacBook on it saw my wireless router, thought I had broadcast turned off...uh oh, somebody might be stealing my internet, if they can crack my WEP key, and clone one of my MAC addresses.

Anyway, the dude at the Apple repair shop said they could install the missing keys on my iBook for only 5 bucks, since I already bought them myself.

So many frequently asked questions about the Insight/Software Spectrum Merger. Glad I don't work for Software Spectrum anymore, (lasted around a month, didn't do sales, did support, didn't officially work for Software Spectrum or Microsoft Games, was a temp, quit because I was expected to support games I had no access to and the training wasn't sufficient in terms of online games, AND I hate call center jobs) when I see the terms GSA or LAR my stomach turns.

However I am glad that I may have access to the very generous employee purchase program that Insight offers to it's employees. They sell pretty much anything a geek would need for their computer. Oh, and maybe Apple stuff too... I'd be willing to bet that employee discounts don't apply to Apple products. I'll find out.

Dropped my MacBook off at an authorized Apple repair place today. Fucker won't boot from the internal drive, system can't see the hard drive anymore, Disk Utility can't see it, hard disk is dead. I suppose I could've tried a Knoppix (or Ubuntu) live cd, but I'm lazy and there wasn't much on the hard drive I would want to save. Beauty of the story for me is that it's still under warranty and won't cost me a dime for the new drive, hopefully Apple no longer offers the size drive I had and I'll get a bigger one at no charge. Crossing my fingers...

I seem to have a problem with my MacBook if I leave it sleeping and the battery goes dead. Right now it want's to boot into non-activated Windows, need a serial number to continue. Really don't want to have to rescue or reinstall OSX again. Gonna let the battery charge up and see what happens when I boot. typing this on my Mini Itx system, see, nephew, I do use it!

I don't know what happened, click, click, click, I just bought a cd off lala.com. When did they add that feature? I think I got a good deal, probably used. Can't resist "The Unicorns". WTF!!! I've got to pick exterior colors for my house. Think I'll go with historically traditional ones for a Craftsman style bungalow. Didn't find much searching until I found this Flickr photo set. Some kind of green for the body is what I'm leaning towards. The neighbors on the left have a yellowish house and the guy on the right has a white one. I've got some time to decide because it's way too cold right now to paint.

Did a walkthru of my burned house today. Everything has been stripped down to bare floors and studs. That pic is where the fire almost burned through the living room floor. Keep in mind that there was carpet and another wood floor that the flames ate up before creating those almost holes.

That's what I thought when watching "The Office" earlier tonight. Turns out that hump wasn't the one from Cheaters. It was Kenneth Cole, who happens to look a lot like the hump from Cheaters. Kenneth Cole designs shoes and other stuff that they sell at Macy's. I don't think he confronts people who are cheating on their spouses. Maybe he confronts people who wear counterfeit shoes.

My latest electric bill showed up in my inbox today. It wasn't as good as my Qwest bill where they owe me, pretty good though. Only 21 bucks, compared to the last one before the fire which was over 100 bucks more than that. Almost hate to move back after all the repairs are done, really enjoy these cheap utilities.

It's been almost 30 days since I last slept in my own bed. Don't think I'd want to sleep in it now, probably in a landfill. Thankfully those two aren't allowed in my guest room, or else there'd be hair all over my new MacBook Pro. Should only be three more months of their crap to put up with, "... feed me, pet me, play with me ..."

And, I should find out next week for sure how the whole "contents" thing will work with my homeowner's insurance. Hope that ambulance ride will be covered by my health insurance, picked up my mail Friday and there was a notice claiming that they think some other insurance might cover it because it was the result of an accident. Had to fill out a form, now I get to wait and see.

Got a new bill from Qwest in my email today. They actually owe me 26 bucks. Not everything sucks when your house almost burns down. I guess they owe me because they bill in advance. I got lucky when they agreed to let me out of the two year commitment, but c'mon, I'm not in the house, how can I use their DSL on melted phone lines? DirecTV let me put the service on hold for six months and will give me a free move-in thing, or something. Awesome!

Do pugs ever stop shedding? Sheesh, hair everywhere. Staying at my folks place for who knows how long and they've got a couple of pugs. I would think that in the cold weather they'd keep as much hair as possible. Maybe when it gets colder.

iPhone glass replacement kit showed up today. The glass in the kit was broken. Shoot.

Dummy at work told me that today. He voted, but didn't vote for president, just local elections. All because of the electoral college system we have, his lame state of Idaho only has 4. He claims that he hates the electoral college system and would rather that the popular vote would prevail. Hey dummy, you didn't vote for president, so yours didn't count period. Obama won the popular vote as well.

The movie still sucks, but it looks a lot better in Blu-Ray. I will say that you can sort of tell the bad guys from the good guys in the higher def version. Viewing the DVD version I couldn't really follow the action, or tell which robot was which. To be honest I was catching up on email and stuff during the heavy CGI scenes. Just wanted to see what's her name in a belly shirt and short skirt in high def.
