Used iFuntastic to kinda sorta hack the iPhone by putting my preferred ringtones back on the iPhone after the recovery. "Price is Right" theme for generic incoming calls, snippet of "Minimum Wage" by They Might Be Giants for calls from work. Apple will probably release a new iPhone update tomorrow just to screw with me.

Damn it! Tried to update the software on my iPhone and now it's in Recovery Mode and won't work. Is this because I used JailBreak to put a ringtone on it? iPhone Atlas

Pain in the ass. iTunes has to download the software, now it has to reload all the music/contacts/settings I had on it. This is going to take forever! Why doesn't it come with a firewire dock?

Recovery means wipe, so if you plan to sell a used iPhone be sure to start Recovery to clean it out and don't finish the process, it'll be like a brand new iPhone.

I've decided to keep the iPhone. That means I need to quit Virgin Mobile, so I changed my Virgin plan to 18 cents per minute and no automatic Top-Up if the account runs below 15 bucks. After 90 days of me not adding money my account will die. Kinda sucks I'll lose the 14.70 in the account and have no way to get it back.

I think I might be too late to change the iPhone to a no contract GoPhone plan. If the recent past is any indicator, the next 2 years will be gone before I realize anyway, so not that big a deal if I'm stuck in a contract. Plus need to call up and change my plan to pay 5 bucks extra a month to make the night minutes start at 7pm rather than 9pm.

Something I promised many months ago is going to happen tomorrow. At first I took back my promise because I thought I needed the money I could get off eBay if I sold the iBook. The iBook needs some keys replaced on the keyboard, I bought the keys and couldn't install them myself and I haven't taken it to a shop that can install them. If I needed the money I would've had the keys installed and sold the iBook already.

Wow, was kinda freaked out when my Dad called and asked if I thought an iMac was a good computer. Of course I said yes. Can't upgrade 'em, mentioned that, have to assume he would run XP or Vista via BootCamp. Parallels would be better if he's going for 50/50 between Mac and Windows. Man, am I kinda sorta pissed! The projector bulb I got off ebay is in the post today. Hmm, paid for it 3 days ago. Why the delay in shipping? Not really pissed because I'm lazy and you can't always get to the post office as often as you'd like, sometimes there's a line and that's a hassle. I am glad that he/she gave me a tracking number. I just put a .41 stamp on stuff and hope it gets there.

Jesus it takes forever to load the iPhone with music. Wish it had a mode like my Shuffle does and iTunes would randomly fill it with music. If that option exists I don't see it. Oh and there's this super cool utility called iFuntastic that makes it easy to add/remove ringtones, change the layout, load up homebrew apps, it's donate ware and available at iPhone Alley. The program is for Intel Macs only for now. I'd be posting this from the iPhone, but it's syncing.

Bought the bulb, might've just got scammed. The winner put it up on Ebay with a buy it now I couldn't resist. If so I should have some Ebay protection.

Sweet, there's a place close to my work that will take passport photos for 11.95 for a set of two. Which is nice because you need two photos for your passport application. I'll limp in there during the work day tomorrow. Stupid foot, why so many bones?

Update: Pain is still there, wearing a shoe actually helped alleviate the pain. Huge bruise on my foot. Learned to walk to avoid the pain, if I turn my foot a certain way, a mountain of pain. So don't think I broke anything, or if I did so what? You can't really put a foot in a cast.

Do pugs ever stop shedding? Sheesh, hair everywhere. Staying at my folks place for who knows how long and they've got a couple of pugs. I would think that in the cold weather they'd keep as much hair as possible. Maybe when it gets colder.

Dummy at work told me that today. He voted, but didn't vote for president, just local elections. All because of the electoral college system we have, his lame state of Idaho only has 4. He claims that he hates the electoral college system and would rather that the popular vote would prevail. Hey dummy, you didn't vote for president, so yours didn't count period. Obama won the popular vote as well.

The movie still sucks, but it looks a lot better in Blu-Ray. I will say that you can sort of tell the bad guys from the good guys in the higher def version. Viewing the DVD version I couldn't really follow the action, or tell which robot was which. To be honest I was catching up on email and stuff during the heavy CGI scenes. Just wanted to see what's her name in a belly shirt and short skirt in high def.

I've seen that people take credit for my work. Not difficult work, took me 15 minutes or less to do it, squeezed it out before I left on Friday. Emailed the result of my work to the coworker that requested it. Subsequently read an email where that coworker claimed that they created it, they may have edited it, but don't take full credit. Just gives me more reason to hate on folk. This particular coworker couldn't have created it ever. Best to move on if able. Will be with some folk this weekend that might have some options.

I just bought a new glass screen and tools to replace it off eBay. Shit is coming from Hong Kong. Why do they call it 2G? That 2G stuff confuses me. Anyway, even if it's the wrong size it was only around 14 bucks. Isn't the 3G iPhone the second generation? They claim it fits a 4 gig iPhone, so that would be a first generation iPhone.

A local company can replace the busted glass screen on my iPhone for "... $65 (parts), $10.88 Shipping, and $35 labor...", so hmm, math, let's see 110.88. Cheaper than sending it back to Apple. Too bad I don't have some other phone lying around I could put the sim card into during the repair time. They say 5-10 days turnaround. Would they need to have my iPhone the whole time? Need to find out what it would cost to get out of my ATT contract. Then go T-Mobile and G1, depending on what it costs to dump ATT. Although, I'm liking an App on the iPhone called GasHog that helps you track how many miles per gallon you get, and what the fuel costs per mile.

That G1 looks goofy, has no standard headphone jack, doesn't play video, not truly open thanks to T-Mobile, has a 2 year contract like ATT.

Fuck it, I'm stuck. Maybe I'll get the 3G iPhone instead and sell the busted one to help offset the cost. I'll have to make sure to take blurry pictures of it.

It was very easy to setup the first 3 times. Why 3 times? Well, I'm trying to use Boxee on it and that requires some work, not really, but I tried it over again when samba wasn't working. Still need some work to get samba shares to load. All the iTunes stuff works great, I can stream any media in my iTunes library fine, movies I've bought, podcasts, music I've bought. What I really want is samba shares to work. That will involve some ssh and ftp work. NitoTV may be the answer. Not a novice to ssh or ftp so I'm not scared about it, just too late in the day to tackle it tonight.

BTW: Never knew I could boot from a USB card reader.
