My next attempt to do Asterisk will involve using the trixbox distro. I managed to install it on my mini, then updated stuff, installed some trix add-ons after I dicked around enough to figure out how to do it. There is hardly any documentation about how to do things! A buddy in college majored in technical writing, wish he was part of the trix project.

side note: I wasn't invited to his wedding, so, not that much of a buddy. Is that why his dad lost a dental patient? Perhaps... sux for him because I got a lot of Jelly Bellys on Xmas to rot my teeth.

I cheated and did the Xmas thing yesterday. For some reason Mom wanted to do it a day early. Maybe because she only gets Xmas day off, and I don't know why else. Maybe there's a secret Xmas celebration that I'm not invited to. If it's a dog Xmas I'm glad I'm not invited.

Got pretty much everything I asked for and some surprises. One surprise was an original drawing in a frame from my niece. The fact that she drew it herself makes it a great gift. I also got a nifty bird feeder, I think it's too delicate to actually be outdoors, might fill it with Jelly Bellys. Other surprise gifts: Voodoo book, cat photo adventure book, tailgate recipe book, strange candy. I swear the best part of the holiday is seeing what surprise gifts I end up with.

The PlayDoh I put into everyones gift went over well. My family must think I'm a weirdo...which is ok, because I am. Not crazy, just weird.

Since I'm gonna need my own cell plan this is what I'll end up doing. Those phones are expensive! I'd like the Nokia E61. I don't want a plan, just want the phone. What a hassle, gotta make asterisk work, pay a bunch for a phone, configure the phone, get a minimal plan from ... somebody.

Mom and Pop are kicking me out of their cell phone family. Gotta spread my wings and find my way on my own.
The only thing I care about is if I can upload ringtones from my Mac, that's why I bought the lg phone on m&d's plan.
Dang it! Now I want a wi-fi/cell phone combo that can talk to asterisk. This change will save my folks money but end up costing me tons.

Uh oh, made a mistake and somehow wiped out a bunch of data at work. I restored the most recent backup to a new location and should be able to find what I lost and import it into the system. I wonder how long it would take for somebody to notice...maybe I'll wait and see. Could always blame it on the recent power outages. Nah, I need to fix it.

I'm not including any Plush toys with my gifts this X-mas. It cost a bunch to do it last year and I think I was the only one that really enjoyed it. Sure it was fun on the day, but in the long run I bet those toys have been chewed up by dogs, or met other ill fates.

Dude, you need to moisturize or wear gloves always. Sorry for stealing your bandwidth, didn't feel like copying and uploading the pic to my server. You could do an evil thing like replace the image with something nastier and I wouldn't notice for weeks.

Do pugs ever stop shedding? Sheesh, hair everywhere. Staying at my folks place for who knows how long and they've got a couple of pugs. I would think that in the cold weather they'd keep as much hair as possible. Maybe when it gets colder.

iPhone glass replacement kit showed up today. The glass in the kit was broken. Shoot.

Dummy at work told me that today. He voted, but didn't vote for president, just local elections. All because of the electoral college system we have, his lame state of Idaho only has 4. He claims that he hates the electoral college system and would rather that the popular vote would prevail. Hey dummy, you didn't vote for president, so yours didn't count period. Obama won the popular vote as well.

The movie still sucks, but it looks a lot better in Blu-Ray. I will say that you can sort of tell the bad guys from the good guys in the higher def version. Viewing the DVD version I couldn't really follow the action, or tell which robot was which. To be honest I was catching up on email and stuff during the heavy CGI scenes. Just wanted to see what's her name in a belly shirt and short skirt in high def.

I've seen that people take credit for my work. Not difficult work, took me 15 minutes or less to do it, squeezed it out before I left on Friday. Emailed the result of my work to the coworker that requested it. Subsequently read an email where that coworker claimed that they created it, they may have edited it, but don't take full credit. Just gives me more reason to hate on folk. This particular coworker couldn't have created it ever. Best to move on if able. Will be with some folk this weekend that might have some options.

It's obvious. Why even debate it? If you look at Kristen Wiig's nose in "Walk Hard" and how it looks on the most recent episodes of SNL, it's clear that she had a nose job. I personally think she looks better.

I just bought a new glass screen and tools to replace it off eBay. Shit is coming from Hong Kong. Why do they call it 2G? That 2G stuff confuses me. Anyway, even if it's the wrong size it was only around 14 bucks. Isn't the 3G iPhone the second generation? They claim it fits a 4 gig iPhone, so that would be a first generation iPhone.

A local company can replace the busted glass screen on my iPhone for "... $65 (parts), $10.88 Shipping, and $35 labor...", so hmm, math, let's see 110.88. Cheaper than sending it back to Apple. Too bad I don't have some other phone lying around I could put the sim card into during the repair time. They say 5-10 days turnaround. Would they need to have my iPhone the whole time? Need to find out what it would cost to get out of my ATT contract. Then go T-Mobile and G1, depending on what it costs to dump ATT. Although, I'm liking an App on the iPhone called GasHog that helps you track how many miles per gallon you get, and what the fuel costs per mile.

That G1 looks goofy, has no standard headphone jack, doesn't play video, not truly open thanks to T-Mobile, has a 2 year contract like ATT.

Fuck it, I'm stuck. Maybe I'll get the 3G iPhone instead and sell the busted one to help offset the cost. I'll have to make sure to take blurry pictures of it.

It was very easy to setup the first 3 times. Why 3 times? Well, I'm trying to use Boxee on it and that requires some work, not really, but I tried it over again when samba wasn't working. Still need some work to get samba shares to load. All the iTunes stuff works great, I can stream any media in my iTunes library fine, movies I've bought, podcasts, music I've bought. What I really want is samba shares to work. That will involve some ssh and ftp work. NitoTV may be the answer. Not a novice to ssh or ftp so I'm not scared about it, just too late in the day to tackle it tonight.

BTW: Never knew I could boot from a USB card reader.

BTW 2: The 2.2 Apple TV update included 1080p.
