Lala.com is allowing me to discover "classics". These classics are helping me appreciate the brilliance of groups like "The Melvins". I swear to god that the start of the Elton John song "I Need You to Turn to" is also the start of a Melvins song...can't find it, maybe "Skin Horse"... not so much, maybe the middle of "Skin Horse", sort of. If I cared I'd take samples of both and present them back to back. Take my word for it, kinda similar. The start of "I Need You to Turn to" and the middle of "Skin Horse" are kinda alike.

"The Squid and the Whale" is a fabulous movie! It's funny and sad at the same time, like me ... no wonder I love it! This Noah Baumbach guy better look out before he turns into Wes Anderson. Maybe he's already part of Wes Anderson since Noah co-wrote "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". Does Baumbach make a cameo in the Wes Anderson American Express commercial? I can't tell from the fuzzy YouTube footage.

What does that mean? Just saw a story on the news about some jerk that tied a dog to a vehicle and "forgot" about it while he drove away. Dog was injured and eventually "put to sleep". In other words, killed. Is there a dog heaven? Do dogs have religion?

I have an opportunity to get my work to buy me a laptop. It wouldn't really be mine, but it would be for my use. It needs to run Windows XP, the new MacBooks can run XP... What's the shipping time frame from order to delivery? I need it by June 6th. Apple website sez 3-5 business days. Need to think on it. That would really be pushing it, because I need time to put XP on it using boot camp. Uh oh, I do have the option to push back the June 6th date, that is not set in stone. I'm trying hard to talk myself into this MacBook thing.

Made an executive decision, ordered a black MacBook. Think I'll split the cost with the business so I can keep the fucker.

I posted earlier that the CD drive in my iBook had stopped working. Not true. It works, possibly my external dvd burner can read scratched cds better.

What have I done? Thought I wanted some so called "classic" music. Now I'm stuck with a bunch Led Zepplin, and ELO. Most of it is blech. The Beatles stuff I got from lala I'll keep. Please, lala members request ELO and Led Zepplin. Who the hell is singing on ELO Part 2? Fucking dirty trick, ELO part 2 isn't the Jeff Lynne ELO. Prius hacking sounds like fun! Lord knows I can't work on an engine, but I can sure screw up a computer. I would love to tweak a hybrid car to use the electric motor more than usual.

No, not a family reunion, lala.com has facilitated the delivery of the GG Allin cd "Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies" to me. Gosh, I'm already a couple of those things myself. (freak, drunk) Of the two remaining things reckon junkie is the only other one I can do comfortably, but once you are a freaky drunk junky, mabye faggot just happens.

There is a movie about GG Allin, "Hated". The movie depicts pretty much all of that. That being "Freaks, Faggots, Drunks & Junkies", with GG Allin playing all of those roles.

Goofy thing happened, my power went out for a few seconds during a hail/thunderstorm, all my network devices lost power and rebooted. (Sorry to the person I was talking to when it happened, not my fault.) When everything was back online I tested my voip phone, got dialtone, yeah! Tried to call my cell phone, was informed I wasn't authorized...WTF, dialtone means authorized yes? No. Power cycled my voip thing, tried to call my cell got "not authorized....". Called my voip number on my voip phone, checked messages, hung up. Boom, then I could call out without fail. What a long boring story, but at least I didn't have to go into any control panels to get the voip phone to work again.

Damn, not a true story. Voip phone no worky. Nevermind.

To exclude yourself from the class, you must mail a letter by June 26, 2006. See Section VII.B. of the Amended Long Form Notice at www.netflix.com/settlement for information about the required contents of the letter and the mailing address. By excluding yourself, you preserve your right to bring a lawsuit against Netflix concerning the Claims Released By The Class. However, you will not get the benefit for which you previously registered.

The settlement was approved by the Court on April 28, 2006. The class benefit will be provided after the Effective Date. It was $38.74 for 26 trades, 21 I've gotten. The thing I don't like is that I was charged for trades I have yet to receive.

There are some cds I have that I will never trade. Ciconne Youth is one, World Won't Listen, and some others.

World Won't Listen was an import, and I paid way more than a usual cd for it. Almost 30 bucks.

Cd drive in my G4 iBook is flakey. This would really suck if I didn't have an external dvd burner available, or other semi assembled computers on the network. This is a problem because when I first got the iBook I had to send it back because the cd drive didn't even show up as a device, pretty sure I'm out of warranty now. Didn't buy the Applecare like I said I would.

Hmmm, do I have 3 grand to buy a new intel MacBookPro...not quite. Can't even say I've paid off the iBook yet, not sure.

I don't travel with my laptop. If I ever do, I'll make sure I have whatever media I think I would desire stored on the internal hard drive. Plus I could have an external drive full of pr0n.

I am hooked on la la. Going to mail out ten cds tomorrow. Can't wait until it gets out of beta. This is the best beta I've ever been a part of just because it involves actual things going through the post.

Uh oh, just got the bill, it's a buck + .49 shipping per trade. Lala charged me almost 40 bucks for 26 or so trades. So, it's really $1.50 per trade you receive. Still waiting to recieve 11 of them that are paid for.

Not a big fan of desserts. Most are too sweet, and when I eat a lot of sweet I get heartburn. Even a god damn regular coke will give me heartburn. Pudding is a good dessert, as long as it isn't too sweet.

Oh, and all kinds of stuff is going to hell: I broke my nephew (possibly beyond repair). I'm locked out of my online banking (can be fixed when I call the credit union). My Paypal account has removed an expired credit card (not so bad really). Fucking nasty zit on my back / shoulder area (it'll burst, or pop, or be squeezed). I could go on and on, only thing I'm really worried about is the nephew. I want him to feel better about himself and his potential.

iPhone glass replacement kit showed up today. The glass in the kit was broken. Shoot.

Dummy at work told me that today. He voted, but didn't vote for president, just local elections. All because of the electoral college system we have, his lame state of Idaho only has 4. He claims that he hates the electoral college system and would rather that the popular vote would prevail. Hey dummy, you didn't vote for president, so yours didn't count period. Obama won the popular vote as well.

The movie still sucks, but it looks a lot better in Blu-Ray. I will say that you can sort of tell the bad guys from the good guys in the higher def version. Viewing the DVD version I couldn't really follow the action, or tell which robot was which. To be honest I was catching up on email and stuff during the heavy CGI scenes. Just wanted to see what's her name in a belly shirt and short skirt in high def.

I've seen that people take credit for my work. Not difficult work, took me 15 minutes or less to do it, squeezed it out before I left on Friday. Emailed the result of my work to the coworker that requested it. Subsequently read an email where that coworker claimed that they created it, they may have edited it, but don't take full credit. Just gives me more reason to hate on folk. This particular coworker couldn't have created it ever. Best to move on if able. Will be with some folk this weekend that might have some options.

I just bought a new glass screen and tools to replace it off eBay. Shit is coming from Hong Kong. Why do they call it 2G? That 2G stuff confuses me. Anyway, even if it's the wrong size it was only around 14 bucks. Isn't the 3G iPhone the second generation? They claim it fits a 4 gig iPhone, so that would be a first generation iPhone.

A local company can replace the busted glass screen on my iPhone for "... $65 (parts), $10.88 Shipping, and $35 labor...", so hmm, math, let's see 110.88. Cheaper than sending it back to Apple. Too bad I don't have some other phone lying around I could put the sim card into during the repair time. They say 5-10 days turnaround. Would they need to have my iPhone the whole time? Need to find out what it would cost to get out of my ATT contract. Then go T-Mobile and G1, depending on what it costs to dump ATT. Although, I'm liking an App on the iPhone called GasHog that helps you track how many miles per gallon you get, and what the fuel costs per mile.

That G1 looks goofy, has no standard headphone jack, doesn't play video, not truly open thanks to T-Mobile, has a 2 year contract like ATT.

Fuck it, I'm stuck. Maybe I'll get the 3G iPhone instead and sell the busted one to help offset the cost. I'll have to make sure to take blurry pictures of it.

It was very easy to setup the first 3 times. Why 3 times? Well, I'm trying to use Boxee on it and that requires some work, not really, but I tried it over again when samba wasn't working. Still need some work to get samba shares to load. All the iTunes stuff works great, I can stream any media in my iTunes library fine, movies I've bought, podcasts, music I've bought. What I really want is samba shares to work. That will involve some ssh and ftp work. NitoTV may be the answer. Not a novice to ssh or ftp so I'm not scared about it, just too late in the day to tackle it tonight.

BTW: Never knew I could boot from a USB card reader.
