CableCARD certification rules out home-built Windows MCE boxes, possibly other DIY solutions
If this CableCARD certification rules out home-built Windows MCE boxes, possibly other DIY solutions crap turns out to be true, I'm an unhappy camper. Not that I would want any MCE box, bought or home built. It's the MythTv or other PVR software I'm concerned about.

The Colbert Nation website looks like ass
The Colbert Nation website looks like ass, probably on purpose. I love the TV show. Sometimes the truthiness can look like ass. You have to look that ass in the face and suck it up. When the show first started out I didn't like it, not enough facts, some stammering by the host, but he's got it together, the truth is seeping through the fabric of America! Go Team Colbert!

Digg fanboys love K. Rose c*ck
Ohhh, a rumor about Yahoo buying Digg, so much commotion, so many comments, now it's off the front page. Funny to read the comments, "don't sell it Kevin, we love you soooo much", didn't actually see that comment, but it would fit right in with a lot of them. Digg is not just Kevin Rose, it is part of Revision 3. Kevin is the public face of Digg. Frankly, I don't care who owns Digg, I just want it to continue to improve, and expand beyond just tech.

I'm a genius. Duh
Took the mensa test and got 21 or 22 right. Figured out the "3 W on T" thing while driving home, so I'm giving myself a 22, genius score. The sad thing is that I'm posting this good news on my mini computer, (the asterisk/MythTv/hardwired to the router linux box that is splayed out in parts on a desk in the guest bedroom) because I borked my wireless network last night. But I am a genius, according to mensa. What a bunch of dopes they must be.
Just took the test again, got 23, I'm more of a genius than I thought. BTW, I think Mensa is a crock, wouldn't join if they asked me. Reminds me of the old Groucho Marx joke, paraphrasing "I wouldn't join a club that would have me as a member."
That site is not made by Mensa, the test is meaningless. But I do feel good that I scored well. (wireless, on my MacBookPro ... I miss-typed, meant my obsolete iBook)

Asterisk installed!
Yeah, I installed Asterisk The Open Source PBX. Tearing my already balding hair out trying to set it up. I installed from source via ... not cvs ... the other thing, that's replacing cvs, subversion. A kind of help in this struggle is the animal book put up for free. I'm still lost, even with the book.
Yes, I'm actually reading that book.
Right now I'm struggling to extend my network with my Airport Express. I'm sooo close to getting it to work in WDS mode with my Linksys router. It's a real pisser resetting things to factory default over and over again.
God damn, I got it right! Now my TiVo doesn't need to be hard wired to my router, it's connected to my Airport Express! I am so happy!
Joy is over, Asterisk needs to be figured out now. Whee! Little bit of joy left over.
I should link to the sites that helped me figure out how to use the Airport Express in WDS mode with a Linksys WRTG54. Yeah, a google search, I won't say which one helped me the most. I'm just happy TiVo will stop bitching at me about a daily call now.
Arrrgh, messed it up. Figure it out tomorrow. At the very least TiVo will stop bugging me for a couple of weeks while I make it work.

Had to buy the DirecTV Sports Pack
It really sucks that Gonzaga plays in such a shitty conference. The only way I can see their conference games is to pay for the DirecTV Sports Pack, so I did. It's a forgone conclusion that the Zags will be conference champs. Went ahead and ordered the "March Madness" thing too, just because. OMG, the audio is out of sync, seeing a basketball game, audio is about Ronnie Lott! they fixed it. Jesus Christ! There are no production values on ESPN U. Commercial breaks are all messed up.
Almost bought ESPN Full-Court, until I examined the line-up no Gonzaga at all.

jealous = me
If only I had a brain. Here's a guy (or gal) that blogged about their experience making a linux PVR.
I have the brain, not the motivation. Got to thinking that I'm paying Directv 5 bucks a month for a very old version of Tivo, and I could be saving 60 bucks a year if I had a MythTV or Freevo box of my own. I don't want to think about what I've already spent to half-heartedly make a MythTV box that might kinda work if I put any effort into it.
The idea now is to make a MythTV box that can get OTA-HD, 2 DirecTV signals, and have no monthly fee for DVR service. fugit, will not happen

Dual-Core info from Intel
A link to some Intel videos telling us why Dual-Core is so cool. Got the link because I downloaded the OSX developer tools long time ago. The Intel® Core%u2122 Duo Processor: The Dual-Core Revolution I haven't watched them. Oh and here's a link to some programmer junk put out by Apple about universal binaries

Worried about the "Can You Hear Me Now?" guy
Have you seen any recent Verizon Wireless commercials? That "Can you hear me now?" guy looks really skinny. Does he have the AIDS? Maybe this site has the answer... or not since that site is a jokey website. Still concerned.

Distasteful retort idea
Ever have a situation where a higher up is telling a story you wish would end and it just keeps going on and on? Here's a retort to their "fascinating" story. You might say, "Sometimes I masturbate with my left hand, I usually use my right hand, when I feel really frisky I'll use both hands. Any way I do it I have a happy ending. Your stories never end, happy or otherwise."
YMMV, don't recommend saying that to anyone ever. It seemed funnier before I started typing...had a different phrasing that I don't recall now...

Wrong number asshole
Had a message on my FWD number, which I never use. Something about a truck. Oh, and I'm not Jason, and I don't want to buy a truck. How could've this happened? Did I link my FWD number to some free phone thing in the Olympia area ... think I did.
Looks like I need to buy some Pigface cds, oops, not pigface, Hey Asshole is a 1000 Homo DJ's song. But I do need to buy some Pigface cds.

Complaint about some DVDs
This is very petty, and will probably only make sense to me. If there are commentary tracks on the DVD, they should be listed under "Special Features", not under "Setup". Pissed off because I just watched "House of D", a pretty good coming of age movie made by the X-Files guy David Duchoveny, wondered if he made a special commentary, looked under "Special Features" and no commentary, took a look at "Setup", lo and behold an audio commentary track. I don't need to setup your dvd, I've already setup my whole system. Put the commentary under both if you have to. I guess the real complaint is directed at whoever designs the DVD menu. Bahhh!

Unfortunate verbage, or I'm a pervert
Keep seeing reports on local news about the accident involving airport workers ripping a hole in a plane that ended up having to make an emergency landing. The reporters keep saying "foot long gash". As far as I'm concerned a gash is a vulgar term for a certain lady part, and I want to giggle every time I hear it. Man with a gash? tee hee, shemale, no, a hermaphrodite.
Maybe I'm all alone with my definition of a gash, or read too many dirty magazines.

Don't remember, something about feeling pukey
I wanted to post something... can't remember what.
My mythtv isn't working, not working to fix it, didn't post that.
Oh, now I remember.
I've been nauseous most of the day. I think what triggered it is that I got a sniff of pipe tobacco. The smell reminded me of the times I've tried to smoke cigars, and that has almost always ended up with me puking, or at least wanting to puke. I think this all stems from the time I (or a friend) stole chewing tobacco from the "Pumpkin Patch" (now it's an Egger's Meat/Booze store) as a kid. I got horribly ill from that, didn't know you shouldn't swallow if you are chewing tobacco. I learned about spitting the hard way. One of the few things I remember from my childhood, vomiting into a metal office trashcan. Redman, icchh.

MythWeb - Program Listing: Tuesday January 3, 2006, 01:15 AM
Might've finally gotten MythTv to work...after what, over a year of trying, not trying very hard, maybe only 3 times before today. I can't watch live tv, or schedule a recording that'll record anything from the server. However, if I use the MythWeb interface to schedule, it appears to record. I don't understand it, but if it works, I'm happy.
